Dr. Jose M. Galarza(DVM, PhD) is the President and Founder of TechnoVax Incorporated, a biotechnology company based in the New York Metro Area (Westchester County) and whose mission is to create and advance unique and novel vaccine technologies towards commercialization. Dr. Galarza has more than 30 years of scientific experience in the fields of virology and vaccine development and is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at New York Medical College. Furthermore, he has served as a peer reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for more than fifteen years regarding the topics of vaccines, adjuvants, virology and immunology. Dr. Galarza is the recipient of many NIH grants and DOD contracts supporting vaccine research and development programs focused on viral infectious diseases of great public health significance. Before founding Techno Vax Inc, he was Principal Scientist and leader of the Influenza Subunit Vaccine Development Program and member of the Vaccine Technology Advisory Board in the Vaccines Division of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, currently a division of Pfizer,in Pearl River NY. While at Wyeth, Dr. Galarza and his team invented the influenza Virus-Like Particle(VLP) vaccine technology. Prior to joining Wyeth Vaccines, Dr. Galarza held research positions at the University of California at Irvine, and the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Dr. Galarza received a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a Doctorate in Microbiology from the University of La Plata in Argentina. He did his post-doctoral training at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City in the Department of Viral, Cellular and Molecular Biology. He has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and is the recipient of several awards.
