Applications and Uses of Raman Spectroscopy in Bioprocessing

by Vincent Gensbittel | May 28, 2024

Two operators in a lab operating a Raman system and analyzing the data from their bioprocess activities.

Raman spectroscopy allows for the inline and real-time assessment of crucial process parameters (CPPs) and critical quality attributes (CQAs) throughout the process development and manufacturing phases. By employing a chemometric approach (statistical spectral analysis methods), it becomes possible to identify, quantify, and measure the concentration of multiple key compounds in complex liquid media during upstream (USP) or downstream (DSP) processes.

To learn more about Raman applications in bioprocessing, watch the fourth and final interview of this 4-part “Meet the Experts” series to learn about applications and uses of Raman in bioprocessing, the cell culture CPPs and CQAs that can be monitored in -line and in real time with Raman spectroscopy, and more from expert Célia Sanchez.
